Course Description

Urban design and Historic Preservation are important parts of physical planning. The course will help students to understand the principles of design and preservation. It will provide them with a new way of looking at the urban environment. The course will emphasize design vocabulary, in terms of space, form, scale, time and function. It will also explore elements of urban design and preservation in relation to social, economic, and political forces, as well as look at the role of the urban designer in the planning process.
